asarOS Help Guide
Step-by-step guides for every module in asarOS. Whether you're brand new or looking to get more out of a specific feature, you'll find clear instructions here.
🚀
Getting started
Your first 5 minutes with asarOS
1
Open the app
Go to asaros.app and click "Launch App". You'll land on your Dashboard immediately — no account or sign-up required. asarOS works instantly as a guest.
2
Explore the sidebar
The left sidebar shows all your modules grouped into Overview, Personal, Work & Career, and Tools. Click any item to open that app. You can collapse the sidebar by clicking the small arrow button at its edge.
3
Try Daily Focus first
Click "Daily Focus" in the sidebar. This is your daily hub — set your intention for the day, add habits to track, and see your focus timer. It's the best place to start each morning.
4
Add your first task
Click "Life Kanban" in the sidebar. You'll see columns: To Do, In Progress, Review, Done. Click "+ Add Card" and type your first task. Press Enter to save. Drag it between columns as it progresses.
5
Set up cloud backup (optional)
By default, everything saves to your browser automatically. To sync across devices, go to Backup & Restore in the sidebar, click "Connect Google Drive", and follow the sign-in steps. Your data will sync automatically after that.
🔥
Habit Tracker
Creating and tracking habits
1
Open Habit Tracker
Click "Habit Tracker" in the Personal section of the sidebar. If you don't see it, it may require a trial account — click "Upgrade to Pro" in the sidebar for access.
2
Add your first habit
Click the green "+ New Habit" button in the top right. A form will appear. Type the habit name (e.g., "Drink 8 glasses of water"), choose a category (Health, Mind, Work, etc.), and set the type to "Life" or "Work" depending on whether it's a personal or professional habit.
3
Complete a habit today
Each habit shows as a circle on today's row. Click the circle to mark it complete — it turns solid green. Click again to undo. You can see your streak counter update next to each habit.
4
Understanding your streak
A streak counts consecutive days you've completed a habit. Missing one day resets the streak counter but does NOT delete your history. Your completion rate over 30 days is shown as a percentage — this is often more motivating than the streak number.
5
Viewing your history
The calendar grid on the right shows your completion history. Green cells = completed. Empty = missed. This gives you a visual "don't break the chain" view for motivation.
6
Editing or deleting a habit
Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on any habit row to edit its name, category, or delete it. Deleting a habit also removes its history.
🌱
Life & Work Kanban
Using the Kanban boards
1
Life vs Work Kanban
asarOS has two separate Kanban boards — one for personal tasks (Life Kanban) and one for work tasks (Work Kanban). Both work identically but keep your contexts separate so you're not mixing "buy groceries" with "Q3 report".
2
Add a new card
Click the "+ Add Card" button at the bottom of any column. Type your task and press Enter. The card appears in that column. For more detail, click the card to open it and add notes, a due date, or a priority level.
3
Move cards between columns
Drag a card from one column to another as its status changes. The columns are: To Do, In Progress, Review, and Done. Moving a card to Done updates your Dashboard progress bar.
4
Set priority on a card
Open a card by clicking it. You'll see priority options: None, Low, Medium, High. High priority cards show a coloured dot on the board so they stand out.
5
Filter cards by section
Above the board, you'll see section tabs (Health, Finance, Projects, etc.). Click one to filter cards to only that section. This is useful when your board gets full.
6
Archive completed cards
To keep your Done column clean, click the archive button in the column header to move all Done cards to Archive. Archived cards are stored safely and can be viewed from the Archive app in the sidebar.
🍅
Focus Timer (Pomodoro)
Focused work sessions
1
Open Focus Timer
Click "Focus Timer" in the Tools section of the sidebar. You'll see a circular timer with three modes: Focus (red), Short Break (green), Long Break (blue).
2
Set your session length
The default is 25 minutes of focus, 5 minutes short break, 15 minutes long break. To change these, click the Settings icon (⚙️) above the timer. Type your preferred durations and click Save.
3
Start a session
Click the large Play button in the centre of the timer. The countdown begins. The page title changes to show the remaining time so you can track it from another tab.
4
During your session
asarOS will play a gentle sound when the timer ends. After a Focus session, a Short Break timer starts automatically. After every 4 Focus sessions, a Long Break is suggested.
5
Pausing and resetting
Click the Pause button to pause. Click Reset (circular arrow) to start the current mode from scratch. Sessions are logged in your Daily Focus summary even if you pause them.
6
Your session history
The timer tracks how many focus sessions you complete each day. You can see today's session count below the timer. This feeds into your Daily Focus streak.
💰
Finance Tracker
Tracking income and expenses
1
Open Finance Tracker
Click "Finance Tracker" in the Personal section. This app requires a Pro account because financial data is sensitive and Pro includes automatic cloud backup for it.
2
Add an income entry
Click "+ Add Transaction" and select "Income" as the type. Enter the amount (in your currency), select a category (Salary, Freelance, Investment, etc.), add an optional note, and click Save.
3
Add an expense
Click "+ Add Transaction" and select "Expense". Enter the amount, choose a category (Rent, Food, Transport, etc.), and save. The expense immediately updates your balance and charts.
4
Reading the summary cards
At the top of the Finance page you'll see three cards: Total Income (green), Total Expenses (red), and Net Balance (green if positive, red if negative). These update in real time as you add entries.
5
Filtering by date or category
Use the filter bar above the transaction list to filter by month or by category. This helps you see how much you spent on Food in March, for example.
6
Exporting your data
Go to Backup & Restore in the sidebar and click "Export Data". Your entire finance history downloads as a JSON file you can open in any spreadsheet app.
📔
My Diary
Writing and reviewing diary entries
1
Open My Diary
Click "My Diary" in the Personal section. Your diary is completely private — entries are stored only on your device (or your own Drive if you have cloud sync enabled). asarOS cannot read them.
2
Write a new entry
Click "+ New Entry". Today's date is pre-filled. The writing area is a large text field — just start typing. There's no special formatting required, though you can use basic markdown like **bold** or *italic*.
3
Set your mood
At the top of the entry, select your mood using the emoji buttons: Amazing, Good, Okay, Low, or Rough. This adds a mood indicator to your entry and feeds your mood trend chart on the Dashboard.
4
Use a writing prompt
Stuck on what to write? Click "Give me a prompt" above the text field. asarOS will suggest a question to get you started, like "What made you smile today?" or "What challenged you, and how did you handle it?"
5
Add weather and tags
Below the text area, you can optionally add today's weather emoji and tags. Tags help you search for entries later (e.g., tag entries with "family" or "work stress" to find patterns over time).
6
Review past entries
The calendar view on the left shows days you've written entries (highlighted). Click any date to read that entry. Use the search bar at the top to search all entries by keyword.
🎯
Life & Work Goals
Setting and tracking long-term goals
1
Open Life Goals
Click "Life Goals" in the Personal section. Goals are larger aspirations than tasks — things that take weeks or months, not hours.
2
Create a new goal
Click "+ New Goal". Give it a clear title (e.g., "Run a 5K"), choose a category (Health, Finance, Learning, Personal, Family), and optionally set a target date.
3
Add milestones
Each goal can have milestones — smaller steps that lead to the goal. Inside a goal, click "+ Add Milestone". Example milestones for "Run a 5K": "Run 1K without stopping", "Complete 3 runs per week for a month", "Enter a local 5K event".
4
Mark a milestone complete
Click the checkbox next to a milestone to mark it done. The goal's progress bar updates automatically. When all milestones are complete, you can mark the goal as achieved.
5
Work Goals
The Work Goals section works identically but is for professional objectives. Categories include Projects, Career, Skills, and Revenue. Keep these separate from Life Goals to maintain work/life clarity.
6
Reviewing your goals
The Weekly Review app (in the Overview section) automatically pulls in your goals and asks you to reflect on progress. Use it every Sunday to stay connected to your bigger aspirations.
📝
Smart Notes
Creating and organising notes
1
Open Smart Notes
Click "Smart Notes" in the Tools section. Notes is your free-form writing space — use it for meeting notes, ideas, research, or anything you want to capture.
2
Create a note
Click "+ New Note" in the top right. You'll see a title field and a large writing area. The writing area supports Markdown — type # for a heading, ** for bold, - for a bullet list.
3
Use a template
Click "Templates" above the writing area to start from a pre-built format. Templates include: Meeting Notes, Daily Agenda, Weekly Review, Brainstorm, Project Plan, and more. Templates save you time and ensure you don't forget key sections.
4
Organise with folders
In the left panel, click "+ New Folder" to create a folder. Drag notes into folders to organise them. Common folder structures: Work / Personal / Ideas / Reference.
5
Search all notes
Use the search bar at the top of the Notes panel to search across all your notes instantly. Search finds text in both the title and body of every note.
6
Pin important notes
Click the pin icon on any note to pin it. Pinned notes always appear at the top of the list, regardless of when they were last edited.
🏥
Health Monitor
Tracking health and wellness
1
Open Health Monitor
Click "Health Monitor" in the Personal section. This app tracks four health pillars: Sleep, Water, Workouts, and Mood. All data stays on your device or your own Drive.
2
Log your sleep
Click "Add Sleep Entry". Enter the time you went to bed and woke up. asarOS calculates your sleep duration and shows it on your health dashboard. The ideal target is 7–9 hours shown as a green zone.
3
Track water intake
Click "+ Add Water" and select your cup size (250ml, 500ml, or custom). Each entry adds to your daily total. The circular progress shows your progress toward your daily goal (default 2L, adjustable in settings).
4
Log a workout
Click "+ Add Workout". Enter the type (Run, Gym, Yoga, Walk, etc.), duration in minutes, and optional notes. Workouts appear on your activity calendar.
5
Record your mood
The mood tracker here is separate from the Diary mood — this one is for quick daily check-ins. Click a mood emoji (1–5 scale) to log how you feel. Over time, you'll see mood patterns in the chart.
6
Reading the weekly summary
The Health Monitor shows a weekly chart comparing all four pillars. Look for correlations — you might notice your mood is higher on days you hit your water goal, or your sleep improves after workout days.
💾
Backup & Restore
Keeping your data safe
1
Open Backup & Restore
Click "Backup & Restore" in the Settings section at the bottom of the sidebar. This is where you connect cloud storage and manage your data.
2
Connect Google Drive
Click "Connect Google Drive" and sign in with your Google account. You'll be asked to grant permission for asarOS to create files in your Drive. asarOS creates a folder called "asarOS" in your Drive and saves your data there.
3
How sync works
Once connected, asarOS automatically syncs your data to Drive whenever you make changes. There's no manual sync button needed — it happens in the background. The sync status shows in the top bar of the app.
4
Export your data manually
Click "Export All Data" to download a complete backup as a JSON file to your computer. Do this regularly even if you have Drive sync enabled — it's a belt-and-suspenders backup.
5
Restore from backup
If you get a new device or browser, go to Backup & Restore and click "Import Data". Select your JSON backup file. All your data will be restored immediately.
6
Disconnect Drive
To disconnect Google Drive (but keep your local data), click "Disconnect Drive" on the Backup page. Your data remains on your device. Drive tokens are removed. Note: disconnecting Drive does NOT delete your asarOS folder from Drive — you'd need to delete that manually from drive.google.com.
